CraftingCon Hunger Games: Effie Trinket with a tutorial

Hi i'm Amanda From AmandaRose i'm so excited to be here today to show my inspirations from CraftingCon - Hunger Games. i'm going to show you what I made for my daughter and a mini tutorial I made for my envision of a Effie Trinket top.

The only picture I could find of the top I made for Chloe is this picture but if you watch Hunger Games: Catching Fire it's 1 hour and 9 minutes into the movie and she is wearing this top that is FULL of tulle every where and she was wearing a matching pencil skirt.

For my daughter's Effie outfit I decided to match the top for the most part then I made a normal skirt with lace over the top. I was really inspired by this Japenese Fabric that I got from Miss Matatabi so I knew when I signed up for this amazing blog tour I wanted to some how use this fabric in creating a mini Effie. So I watched the movies about 25 times just to make sure I really wanted to go with the outfit above and I knew after watching it over and over that this was the outfit so I went to work.

I hopped online and looked up peplum tops and I found an awesome one and best of all it was a FREE pattern found HERE then I made my own puff sleeve pattern to go with it. For the skirt I just measured her waist and to her knee cut out the fabric plus some white lace and sewed it up for a wearable Effie. I then put some make up on her some foundation to make her face a little white and some red lips, with her hair I was going to go up and crazy but in the end decided to go down added product to her hair bobby pinned it back and there you have it my oldest looking all grown up...She is growing way to fast!

I really loved how it turned out exactly how I envisioned it which is always a great thing when you think about it getting your idea out of your head into amazing fabric and getting it on your model and getting great pictures for your project. I'm so happy I signed up for CraftingCon it's so inspiring to see everyone else's ideas, then seeing yours and seeing how different everyone else's is truly amazing.

My daughter knew who Effie was because of those 25 times I watched it she was there to watch it a couple of times and she really started to like the way Effie dressed and she was getting excited to wear what ever I was going to make for her. When my daughter had put it on she said she felt like Effie because the top was so over the top and she liked getting all done up, now this is what a sewing challenge should be about making your mini me all dazzled up and getting great photos to go along with what you first envisioned.
I'm so inspired by CraftingCon i'm going to be making Katness and Peeta in the next few weeks for my other children.

You can see lots more pictures of the outfit at my blog AmandaRose

Now to show you a mini tutorial of the peplum top......

I cut out all my pieces times 2 so I have my main layer and a second layer to attach all the tulle to it and make it fully....

Sew the tulle on to all the pieces of the inside fabric

for the puff sleeve I added the tulle put the layers together and then I gathered the top to make it puff :o)

I then added the neck link of tulle and then added bias around it to make it clean looking :o)

after you added all the tulle to make it fully as can be then you assemble all the pieces serge the ends sew them up and you have you Effie top :D

Thank you for taking a look at my Effie outfit

I'm excited to show it off....

And remember...
